Location:

Big Cave Camp is a private game lodge in the heart of the Matobo Hills in Zimbabwe. It borders on the Matobo Hills National Park, home of the world's largest Bushman rock art gallery, and of the greatest variety and density of birds of prey.

Wildlife includes kudu, bushbuck, sable, impala, wildebeest, klipspringer and reedbuck; leopard inhabit the rock shelters. Indigenous trees, the mukwa, mnondo and mangwe abound.

Big Cave Camp is built on top of an enormous granite whaleback ensuring superb views of the Matobo National Park. Six thatched A-frame granite lodges, each with en suite bathroom and private balcony, provide superb comfort to up to 16 guests.

The Leopard's Lair dining-room and bar is the perfect meeting place for guests and guides to recount the day's activities over a meal or a drink. Discover the outstanding beauty of the Matobo Hills near Bulawayo, steeped in tribal history and ancient magic. 

Get close to the White Rhino - in cave paintings and for real. Contemplate the lonely grave of Rhodes, or wander amongst the massive granite boulders, under the watchful eye of the proud Black Eagle.

Visits a traditional Matebele village, and meet the spiritual wardens of the sacred places, where past and present co-exist.

Walks, horse-back outings and drives ­ guests are always accompanied by qualified guides ­ into the Whovi Game Park afford views of black and white rhino and plains game.
