Kambaku is situated in the Timbavati Game Reserve in the Northern Province, South Africa. For millions of years, the Timbavati has remained untouched, retaining its wild rugged character and is home to all of Africa's big game.

Akeru is situated in the Timbavati Game Reserve in the Northern Province, South Africa. For millions of years, the Timbavati has remained untouched, retaining its wild rugged character and is home to all of Africa's big game.

At Kambaku, you will find a refuge - a place of exquisite beauty and peace set amidst several thousand hectares of pristine Timbavati wilderness, wherein vehicle activity is kept to a minimum and radio contact utilized to maximize sightings of interest. The camp overlooks a waterhole which is visited by the Timbavati's small and big game. Time stands still here for guests who while away many an hour relaxing at the pool watching the animals quench their thirst. We have created a home away-from-home that is completely relaxed, tranquil and informal.

Accommodation:

Our social area includes a lounge with fireplace, a bar, an elevated loft area, an inside and outside dining room and the ultimate al fresco experience - an open air boma.
 

Lanterns for light, eco-friendly battery power for fans and gas geysers for hot water are just some of the specifics that ensure an original luxurious rustic bush experience. Four poster beds, white linen and draped mosquito nets ensure absolute romance.

Each of the seven thatched chalets is en-suite with both shower and bath. The rooms offer a combination of family suites, doubles and twins to satisfy everyone's specific requirements.

Honeymoon Suite

Our much awaited “Honeymoon suite” was launched recently. This room is fitted out with a Kingsized four poster bed and has a unique and ethnic style. Funky beaded throws, bright cushions and accessories add a splash of color whilst aged black and white photographs blend it in to create the old timeless feel that is Akeru. This room has a private patio with a view of the waterhole.

Chalet Two, a double room with a full bathroom en-suite which includes a "his and hers" wash hand basin. The suite has a private veranda with a wonderful view of the waterhole and lodge.

Chalet Three, a family chalet that has a double bed in the main room and two singles in an adjoining room. The adjoining room has access to the en-suite bathroom via the main room which makes it ideal for families or friends wishing to share. This chalet overlooks the lodges' well manicured gardens.

Chalet Four, a family chalet that has one double and one twin room each with their own entrances. The rooms are completely private and each has a separate entrance to the shared en-suite bathroom. The chalet overlooks the camps inviting swimming pool.

Chalet Five, a double room with a king size bed and a full bathroom en-suite, including a raised bath. The chalet is centrally situated close to the main building and its amenities.

Chalet Six, a twin room with a full bathroom en-suite that has a raised bath overlooking the bush.

Chalet Seven, a twin room with a full bathroom en-suite also with a raised bath that enjoys a great view of the waterhole in front of the lodge from the private patio.

Facilities:

The social area includes a lounge with fireplace, a bar, an elevated loft area, an inside and outside dining area and the ultimate al fresco experience - an open air boma. The camp accommodates just sixteen guests and is ideal for hosting small gatherings of family, friends, mini brain storming sessions and staff incentives. Our professional armed rangers and trackers conduct all game drives in pursuit of Africa's big five and other game, birds and reptiles. Daily walks are encouraged, thus ensuring that the more fascinating aspects of our fauna and flora are not overlooked - emphasizing an appreciation of the complete wilderness experience. Meals are typical "home-cooking" gastronomic affairs and great care is taken to ensure that even the most discerning taste buds are well satisfied.

General Information:

CLOTHING AND ACCESSORIES: - Dress code is bushveld casual and light weight, but a sweater may be required During the winter, June, July and August warm clothes are necessary during early morning and at night. A hat, sunscreen, flashlight and binoculars will add pleasure to your stay.

HEALTH: Precaution against malaria is necessary.

CLIMATE: - Winter: May to September are mild to pleasant during day time. However, nights can be cold, warm clothing is recommended.
Summer: October to April - is hot to very hot with occasional rainfall. Protection from the sun is necessary.

Game Viewing / Activities:

Our safaris depart just after sunrise each day in an open fully equipped vehicle. Tracking Africa's big game, the evening safari leaves after you have enjoyed afternoon tea and continues into the night after sundowners at a panoramic viewpoint.

The evening holds a sense of anticipation as the rare and elusive nocturnal species begin their night activities.
