Game Drives / Activities:

Kasaba Bay Lodge offers the visitor unspoiled Africa at its very best - the magical, undiscovered Sumbu National Park and the beauty of lake Tanganyika, one of the deepest fresh water lakes in the world.

Lake Tanganyika is a paradise for sports fishermen. There are even some species which have not yet been documented! Big game fishing of Nkupi, Goliath Tiger fish, Zebra fish, Lake trout, and Salmon are offered. Here anglers can anticipate the prospects of catching a 100lb Nile Perch! Excellent meals are served in the elevated restaurant that overlooks the lake. This is the perfect setting for enjoying the fresh catch of the day as the sun is setting over the silken waters of the lake.

From the lodge tailor made game drives, walking safaris and Sitatunga sighting excursions are conducted. Sumbu is famous for its variety of animals, bird and plant life. Prolific wildlife, including Elephant, Buffalo, Leopard, Lion, Puku, Warthog and other large antelope species can be encountered on game drives.

Crocodiles inhabit most of the shoreline, except around Mpulungu, probably due to the noise of people and motorboats. Swimming in the lake (in the Mpulungu area only!) is an absolute treat. Warm, clear, salt free water that changes from silky stillness, to high waves for a great body surf - usually with no apparent reason for the change. Storms from way up north probably cause the still waters in the south to agitate.
